Brain surgery is a medical procedure used to treat physical abnormalities in the brain that can result from birth defects, diseases, or injuries such as abnormal blood vessels, aneurysms, bleeding, blood clots, skull fractures, strokes, and brain tumours, among other conditions.
Possible complications associated with a brain surgery may include an allergic reaction to the anaesthesia, bleeding, blood clots, impaired physical activities (speech, vision, coordination, or balance), infection at the wound site, memory problems, seizures, and/or stroke.
Recovery from brain surgery varies depending on the procedure, and a typical hospital stay for brain surgery can last a week or more. The length of your hospital stay, however, will be determined by how well your body responds to the surgery.
Ms. Manisha Doddi, from Bhimavaram, successfully underwent Laparoscopic Brain Surgery at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, under the supervision of Dr. Anandh Balasubramaniam, Consultant Neurosurgeon.
