Patient Testimonial for Bilateral Anterior Column Fixation

Testimonial by Mr. Naveen Goud

Bilateral Anterior Column Fixation is a surgical technique used to stabilize the spine.

This surgical technique is usually performed to treat conditions that cause instability in the spine, such as fractures or degenerative conditions. It can also be used to correct deformities or to stabilize the spine after a spinal fusion surgery.

The procedure for Bilateral Anterior Column Fixation begins with the patient being given general anesthesia to put them to sleep during the surgery. The surgeon will then clean and sterilize the surgical site. A small incision is made in the abdomen, through which the screws and rods will be inserted. Using imaging guidance, such as X-rays or CT scans, the surgeon inserts screws into the vertebral bodies on both sides of the spine. Rods are then attached to the screws using connectors, such as hooks or bolts, and the length of the rods is adjusted to ensure proper alignment and stability of the spine. Finally, the surgical incision is closed with sutures or staples and a bandage may be applied to the incision site.

The entire procedure typically takes several hours to complete. After the surgery, the patient will be monitored in the hospital for a few days to ensure that there are no complications. Physical therapy may be recommended to help the patient regain strength and mobility.
