Patient Testimonial for Rigid Bronchoscopy Treatment

Testimonial by Mr. Anurag Hazamika

Tracheal web is a rare condition in which there is a thin membrane or tissue that obstructs the trachea (windpipe). The trachea is a tube that carries air from the nose and mouth to the lungs. When the trachea is blocked or partially blocked by a tracheal web, it can make it difficult for a person to breathe.

Treatment of tracheal web usually involves surgery to remove the web and any associated abnormalities. In some cases, a stent may be placed in the trachea to keep it open.

Rigid bronchoscopy is a medical procedure in which a doctor uses a rigid bronchoscope to examine the inside of the bronchi (the main air passages in the lungs) and bronchioles (smaller air passages in the lungs). A rigid bronchoscope is a long, thin tube with a light on the end. It is inserted through the nose or mouth and passed down into the bronchi and bronchioles. The procedure typically takes 30-60 minutes, although it may take longer if there are complications or if the doctor needs to perform additional procedures during the bronchoscopy.

After the procedure, the patient may have a sore throat and some hoarseness due to the bronchoscope passing through the throat. These symptoms should resolve within a few days. The doctor may also prescribe medications to help reduce swelling and discomfort in the throat.
