9th National Young Doctors Camp by Yashoda Hospitals concludes successfully in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, May 25, 2019: Yashoda Hospitals conducted the ninth batch of 3-day ‘Young Doctors Camp’ from May 22, 2019 to May 24, 2019. Three hundred young, aspiring doctors took oath to serve the sick and needy with a human touch. The camp was organized simultaneously in Yashoda Hospitals at Secunderabad, Somajiguda, and Malakpet. The camp ended on a cheerful note where the students were certified for participating in the camp.
Every year Yashoda Hospitals organizes the Young Doctors Camp with an intent to provide an exposure of the hospital setting to the students aspiring to take up medical profession. As always the camp has received an astounding response from the students this year. The Young Doctors Camp 2019 has attracted high school students from both Telugu states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and also from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. Out of more than 3000 applications received, 300 students were selected in an exhaustive selection process. The camp was designed to provide a real-life experience of being a doctor and practically make them understand what it is like to be in this field so they make a well-informed career decision.
All the aspiring little doctors were taken around the state-of-the-art medical facilities in the Yashoda Hospitals to familiarize them with the medical departments like diagnostics, outpatients departments, inpatients wards, operation theaters, nursing stations, and pharmacies. The camp was structured in a manner where sessions were inter spread with academic and fun-filled activities including classroom sessions, lectures, surgery videos, quizzes conducted every day.
When a majority of youngsters are looking for more lucrative, glamorous careers these inspired hearts pledged to be a part of the noble profession of treating sick and suffering. These bundles of bubbling enthusiasm came from two Telugu states and far-flung cities of the country to spend 3 days with stalwarts of medical field in three Yashoda Hospitals.
“Our effort will help young minds to understand uniqueness, advantages, challenges & excitement of being a doctor.” said Dr. G.S. Rao, Managing Director of Yashoda Group of Hospitals. He was speaking after distributing the certificates to participants at the valedictory function of Young Doctors Camp. Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, Director, Yashoda Hospitals, Dr. R. Chandrashekar, Dr. Lalitha, Vice President Yashoda Hospitals with the doctors and supporting staff from different departments of Yashoda Hospitals were also present in the closing ceremony.
In the year 2010, Yashoda Hospitals took an initiative of this unique, educative summer camp, aptly named ‘Young Doctors Camp’. Every year students who pass out of ninth standard in the age group of 13-14 years eagerly apply to be a part of this camp. Their selection is based on the evaluation of their marks sheet in the respective academic year and an essay written by them on the topic ‘Why do you want to become a Doctor?’.
