    Yes, Drotin is a pain killer. It contains drotaverine, a category of medicine that helps in relieving pain caused due to spasms. It is widely used to alleviate abdominal pain, cramping in periods, muscular spasms, colic due to stones in the kidney and gallbladder, or pain in smooth muscles of other organs.

    It is not advisable to consume Drotin DS during pregnancy or if you are breastfeeding. There is limited information and clinical data available on the effect of this drug on the fetus when it crosses the placental barrier. Hence, Drotin DS should not be used if you are pregnant. Consult your doctor to get a safer alternative as per your clinical condition.

    Drotin or drotaverine in combination with any other drug should not be used in patients having chickenpox or other viral infections. Do not use antispasmodics like drotin and aspirin-based drugs to treat chickenpox. Usually, drugs like acetaminophen are recommended instead.
