Anafortan: Frequently Asked Questions Answered
What is Anafortan?
Anafortan is a painkiller used to reduce abdominal pain due to dysmenorrhoea (irregular period/menses). It is a combination of two medicines, camylofin and paracetamol. Camylofin relaxes the stomach and gut muscles and prevents sudden contractions of muscles (antispasmodic). Camylofin also blocks certain natural substances in the body (prostaglandins), which trigger the sensation of pain. It has dual-action neurotrophic and musculotropic effects. In combination, both medicines reduce pain effectively. Paracetamol acts both as a painkiller (analgesic) and fever-reducing agent (antipyretic), in addition, reduces inflammation too.
What are the uses of Anafortan?
Anafortan, a combinational drug, has multiple uses. Some uses are:
- Intestinal colic: used to alleviate symptoms such as bloating, severe stomach pain, cramps.
- Biliary colic: used to relieve symptoms such as mild pain in the abdomen’s middle or upper right area. Biliary occurs when a gallstone blocks the bile duct, the tube that drains bile from the gallbladder to the small intestine.
- Renal colic: used to reduce extreme pain caused by a urinary tract blockage.
- Dysmenorrhea: used to relieve menstrual period-related pain and cramps.
