    Frequently Asked Questions about Aleve

Aleve is an effective NSAID for a temporary reduction of fever. It is safe for use in adults between 12 and 65 years. Take one 220 mg tablet every 8 to 12 hours for three days for fever. If the fever worsens or lasts longer than three days, contact your doctor right away. Do not give the medicine to children unless a doctor recommends it.

Aleve is an NSAID. Studies show that taking NSAIDs during pregnancy can increase the risk of miscarriage. NSAIDs like naproxen reduce prostaglandins in the body. Low prostaglandins can prevent an embryo from implanting in the uterus, causing a miscarriage. Thus Aleve is not recommended for use in women during pregnancy.

Aleve is a safe medicine if taken as directed on the package label. Before starting Aleve, always consult a doctor if you have stomach bleeding, ulcers, heart conditions, liver or kidney disease, stroke, and asthma. Also, tell your doctor if you take other pain relievers or fever reducers. Do not use Aleve if you are allergic to naproxen or any NSAIDs.

No, you should not take Aleve and Advil at the same time. Advil and Aleve are both NSAIDs. They work in the same way by reducing prostaglandins production. So taking the two drugs together will not provide quick relief from your pain. Instead, the drugs can increase the risk of severe side effects.

Aleve and Tylenol don't interact with each other. They are considered safe to take together. But always consult a doctor before taking two pain relievers at a time. They might cause more harm than good. Also, read the medication labels carefully to know about the correct dosage, ingredients, and side effects.

No, you should not take Aleve during pregnancy. Taking Aleve during the last three months of pregnancy can cause kidney and heart problems in the fetus.

Also, women should avoid Aleve while breastfeeding. The medicine can pass into breast milk and cause serious side effects in the baby.

Aleve is a better option for toothaches than other OTC pain killers. It effectively reduces mild to moderate dental pain, gum swelling, and redness. It requires fewer doses and lasts longer than other OTC pain relievers. Only 2 Aleve tablets can provide pain relief for up to 24 hours.

No, you should not take Aleve regularly unless directed by a doctor. The recommended dose is one tablet every 8 to 12 hours while symptoms last. Do not take more than two tablets in 8-12 hours. Never take Aleve for more than ten days for the pain and three days for fever without consulting your doctor.

No, Aleve does not have aspirin. Even these medicines should not be taken together. Combining these two drugs can increase the risk of ulcers and bleeding. Moreover, Aleve may reduce the effectiveness of aspirin if you are taking it to prevent heart attacks or strokes.

Aleve contains naproxen that can cause stomach bleeding in some patients. The risk of bleeding is higher in older adults, patients who have had ulcers, and other gastrointestinal problems. Long-term use of NSAIDs can also increase the bleeding risk. Therefore, patients should not take NSAIDs for a longer time than directed.
