Gamma Knife Surgery at Yashoda Hospitals
Gamma knife surgery, a common type of stereotactic radiosurgery, treats the tumors in the head and brain by precisely directing a high dose of radiation to the targeted regions while causing minimal damage to the surrounding tissues. Although it has the name gamma knife, it does not involve any incisions & is categorized as radiation therapy.
It employs advanced 3D imaging technology to deliver highly concentrated radiation beams to the affected area with pinpoint accuracy.
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Yashoda Cancer Institute is a Centre of Excellence in the country for stereotactic treatments. It is on par with international standards and has one of the most technologically advanced clinical radiation therapy programs in the world. In addition to a large team of specialized doctors and state-of-the-art equipment, the department has highly trained and board-certified radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, nurses, dieticians, and other professionals who evaluate, plan, deliver, and review each patient’s treatment.
