Treatment options for this condition include:
- Radiation therapy: It uses high-energy beams such as protons or X-rays to kill the cancer cells. During this therapy, the patient is asked to lie on a table and a machine moves around directing the beams on precise parts of the body. It is used before a surgery to shrink the cancer cells to make it easier to remove them. In some cases, it may be used after surgery to kill the cancer cells that remain after surgery.
- Proton therapy: It is a type of radiation treatment which allows the doctor to use higher doses of the radiation beam without harming the healthy tissue.
