Some risk factors that predispose an individual to this condition are:

What are the complications of Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis?

The most common complications of this condition are:

  • Avascular necrosis: It is the condition wherein due to the inadequate blood supply, the bone tissue dies. This is a major complication that follows in patients with unstable SCFE.
  • Chondrolysis: It is a rare but serious condition in which the articular cartilage present on the surface of the hip starts degenerating rapidly which results in a painful deformity in the affected hip.

Although early detection and proper treatment of SCFE will help decrease the chance of complications, some patients may still experience these problems.
