What is Morton’s Neuroma?

A neuroma is a benign tumor of a nerve. However, Morton’s neuroma is not really a tumor, but a thickening of the tissue. It is a condition with a painful ailment that affects the ball of the foot, mostly the area between the third and fourth toes. It is 8 to 10 times more common in women than in men.

The thickening of the tissue is formed as the response to either irritation, trauma, pressure or injury to one of the nerves.
