It is a condition in children where the arch of the foot disappears when the child stands. It is a common condition and appears in a number of children. Most of them eventually outgrow this condition without developing any permanent problems in their adulthood. This condition is usually painless and does not interfere with walking. The child can even participate in any form of sports without any difficulties. There is no treatment required if the condition doesn’t cause pain or discomfort.
The major cause of flexible flatfoot is a flattened arch due to the lax ligament in the foot.
