COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions:

Is blood thinner necessary for covid-19 treatment?

For COVID 19 patients who are non hospitalised, blood thinners should not be initiated for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) or arterial thrombosis unless the patient has other indications for the therapy or is participating in a clinical trial. However, all hospitalised non pregnant adults with COVID 19 vaccine should receive prophylactic dose anticoagulation as a part of treatment protocol unless they have absolute contraindications for anticoagulation.
