Though still a subject of research, early findings suggest that in most recipients of COVID 19 vaccine, the protective effects of vaccination are demonstrated for atleast 6 to 8 months following second dose of vaccine. This data is fuelling further researches on the role of booster vaccination doses which is aimed at further enhancing the protective nature of vaccine. Even though breakthrough infections may occur in adequately vaccinated subjects, the severity is generally low reemphasising the need to get adequately vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 infection.
