Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme
Philosophy
The principal and faculty of Yashoda College of Nursing, Saroornagar believe that Health is a state of well being that enables a person to lead a Psychologically, Socially and Economically productive life.
Nursing contributes to the health services in a vital and significant way in the health care delivery system. It recognizes national health goals and committed to participate in the implementation of national health policies and programmes.
Further, the Principal and faculty believe that scope of Nursing practice encompasses the provision of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of care of people across their life span in a wide variety of health care settings.
Under graduate nursing program at the post-basic level is a broad based education with an academic frame work, which builds upon the skills and competencies acquired at the diploma level. It is specifically directed to the upgrading of critical thinking skills, competencies and standards required for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery.
Aim
The aim of post basic nursing program is to upgrade the diploma (GNM) nurses to
- Assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives at a basic level in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services
- Makes independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community nursing services and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor, a manager in the clinical/community health settings
Objective
After completion of two years Post Basic B.Sc. (N) programme, the graduate will be able to:
- Assess health status, identifies nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for clients that contribute to the health of individuals, families and communities
- Demonstrate competency in delivering nursing care
- Participate as a member of the health team in promotive, preventive, curative and restorative health care system of the country
- Demonstrate skills in communication and teaching to individuals and groups
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and managerial skills in different health settings
- Participate / Utilize research findings in improving nursing practice
- Recognize the need for continued learning for the personal and professional development
Eligibility Criteria / Admission Requirements
- The candidate should have completed 17 years and should not be more than 45 years as on 31st December of the year of admission
- The candidate should be Indian Nationality or person of Indian origin (P.I.O) / Overseas citizen of India (OCI) card holders should satisfy the local or non local status in AP (Residence requirements) as laid down in Telangana State Educational Institutions.
- Only women candidates are eligible for admission in to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing course
- Should have passed an Intermediate examination or any other equivalent examination (10+2 pattern) recognized by the University of Telangana State Or Board of Intermediate Education
- Should have passed General Nursing and Midwifery course from any institution recognized by Government of Telangana. Or Indian Nursing Council and shall be registered by State Nursing council
