What is Snapping Hip Syndrome?

Snapping hip syndrome is a condition in which an individual feels a snapping sensation or popping sound in the hip when they walk and get involved in regular activities. This is also followed by a sense of discomfort and pain to them.

    What are the causes of Snapping Hip Syndrome?

    Some of the most common underlying causes of this condition are:

    • Feeling of tightness in the muscles and tendons around the hip
    • Hip Labral Tear: This is a condition wherein the cartilage within the hip joint is torn when the hip is moved
    • Iliopsoas Tendon Snap: This is a condition where the iliopsoas tendon present in the hip snaps when the hip is flexed.
    • Iliotibial Band Syndrome: The iliotibial band is a tendon present over the outside of the hip joint. It snaps when the hip is moved.
