Patient Testimonial for Tongue Cancer Surgery

Testimonial by Mr. P. Sateesh Kumar

Tongue cancer, also known as oral cancer, is a type of head and neck cancer that affects the cells of the tongue. It is a serious condition that can be fatal if not treated promptly, and it is most commonly caused by smoking, drinking alcohol, and chewing tobacco. Symptoms include a persistent sore or lump on the tongue, difficulty swallowing, pain or numbness in the tongue, and changes in the taste. Treatment usually involves surgery, radiation therapy, and/or chemotherapy.

Tongue cancer surgery is a major procedure that is performed under general anaesthesia and involves the removal of cancerous tissue. The goal of the surgery is to remove the malignant cells and decrease the risk of the cancer spreading to other parts of the body. Following surgery, the patient may need radiation therapy or chemotherapy to ensure that the cancer is completely eradicated.

Tongue reconstruction is a surgical procedure used to restore the form and function of the tongue after it has been damaged by trauma, congenital defects, or cancer. Following surgery, recovery can take several weeks or months, during which time the patient may experience pain, swelling, and difficulty speaking or eating. In order to prevent infection, antibiotics may be prescribed to the patient.

Mr. P. Sateesh Kumar from Kodada successfully underwent Tongue Cancer Surgery with Tongue Reconstruction at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, under the supervision of Dr. Sachin Marda, Senior Consultant Oncologist & Robotic Surgeon (Cancer Specialist).
