What is Entresto?

Entresto is a brand name for the drug Sacubitril/Valsartan, and it is a prescription oral medicine. It belongs to the angiotensin-neprilysin inhibitors class of drugs. This drug is used in treating heart failure and high blood pressure. The active components in Entresto are Sacubitril and Valsartan, a combination of angiotensin II receptor blocker and neprilysin inhibitor. The drug is available in tablet or suspension forms, and you should take it as per your physician’s prescription. 

What are the uses of Entresto?

Entresto minimises the risk of death resulting from heart failure. The medication is used in combination with other drugs as well. Sacubitril lowers the blood pressure in narrowing blood vessels by reducing sodium levels in the blood. Valsartan prevents blood vessel constriction and improves blood circulation.  

The drug is also effective in kids above one year. Drug dosage depends on the overall medical health, pregnancy conditions, weight and age. The doctor may initially administer a low dose before gradually increasing it.

    What are the side effects of Entresto?

    The most common side effects of Entresto include:

    Entresto must be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Do not start or stop the medication without your doctor’s consultation. The doctor will begin with a small dosage.
