What is the HCV antibody test?
HCV antibody test is used to diagnose hepatitis C virus infection. It is a blood test that identifies the hepatitis C antibodies in the blood. When the body gets infected with the hepatitis C virus, the body will produce antibodies to fight the viral infection. HCV test identifies these antibodies in the bloodstream. This test is recommended in high-risk groups, including drug users, health-care workers, and children of HCV positive mothers. This test is also recommended if you have symptoms like nausea, fatigue, dark urine, diarrhea, jaundice, and decreased appetite as HCV infects the liver.
