What is Drotin?
Drotin (drotaverine) is an antispasmodic medicine. It is prescribed for relieving the pain caused by dysfunctional smooth muscle fibers.
Antispasmodics is a class of medicine used to relieve spasms of involuntary muscles. Drotin helps relax the muscles and gives effective relief from pain, cramps, spasms, and twitches by soothing these sudden contractions.

What are the uses of Drotin?
Drotin is used to treat painful conditions like:
- Dysmenorrhea (extreme and frequent menstrual cramps)

- Nephrolithiasis (kidney stones), ureterolithiasis (stones in the ureter), and spasm of the urinary bladder
- Irritable bowel syndrome, gastritis, enteritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, and spastic colitis with constipation
- Tension-type headache
- Cervical spasm during labor
- Chest pain
- Abdominal pain
- Muscular pain with spasm
- Muscular dystrophy
Although used for all the above indications, Drotin is predominantly prescribed to alleviate menstrual and abdominal cramps and pain due to gallbladder and kidney stones.
