Bunions: Diagnosis, Prevention and Treatment

What is the treatment for Bunions?

Treatment strategies for Bunions involve:

  • Padding: Bunion-shield pads help cushion the painful area. Such pads are easily available in any drugstore. However, patients must be sure that the size of the pads is perfect and that they are comfortable because the wrong size can worsen the pain instead of reducing it.
  • Medications: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen and naproxen can help reduce swelling, relieve pain, and reduce the inflammation.
  • Shoe Inserts: Just like padding, shoe inserts can help cushion the affected area and reduce the pressure exerted on it which further reduces the pain and discomfort.
  • Applying Ice: Icing on the affected area can help reduce the swelling. Ice must be applied several times a day. However, it must not be applied directly to the skin.
  • Surgery: When the condition doesn’t respond to non-surgical methods, doctors may suggest surgery to reduce the sufferings and discomfort of the patient.

Our team consists of orthopedic surgeons, trauma surgeons, physical medicine experts, physiotherapists, and a bone specialist doctors. With this dedicated support we are considered to be one of the top hospitals in Hyderabad for bunions treatment.
