Advanced Treatment for Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine

Diagnostic Ultrasonography

The institute is proud to offer cutting-edge technology to help improve treatment outcomes. Our sports medicine specialists make use of ultrasound-guided procedures and exams for quick diagnosis & care, increased accuracy of the injections and limited use of ionizing radiation in the process.

Ultrasonography or ultrasound scanning uses sound waves to visualize soft tissue such as muscles and tendons. Using a probe containing one or more acoustic transducers, pulses of sound are sent to the patient targeting the tissues to be tested. When the sound wave encounters a tissue layer with a different density, a part of the sound wave gets reflected towards the probe. Each of these reflected waves is detected as an echo.

Diagnostic Radiography (X-Ray)

X-ray facility at the institute features advanced digital technology and achieves significantly good image quality, with sharper & better image detail. The high-resolution imaging assists the sports medicine specialists and arthroscopic surgeons in better visualization and interpretation of fractures and other sports injuries. The facility is integrated with generator and cesium digital detector allowing x-ray care with a fraction of the X-ray exposure when compared to traditional x-ray facilities.

Arthroscopy and Sports Medical Diagnostics

Diagnostic Fluoroscopy

Diagnostic fluoroscopy involves multiple x-rays of a joint using a fluoroscope, which immediately shows an x-ray image. The procedure involves the use of dye/iodine solution injected into the joint area. This highlights the areas around the painful joint and brings into focus the internal workings of specific joints and soft tissue structures. Sports medicine specialists most commonly use this imaging technique to study the knee joints and shoulder joints. The procedure is otherwise also used to identify the problems of ligaments, cartilage, tendons, or the joint capsule of the hip, shoulder, knee, ankle or wrist. With the fluoroscopic imaging assistance, surgeons perform several interventional fluoroscopic procedures through a very small incision which substantially reduces recovery time and reduces the risk of infection for the patient when compared to conventional procedures.
